After an anxious and hot wait, eased by stories from our recent escape and a second round of box breathing, we were called into DrPs office an hour after our alloted time. We had remembered to check in.
Greeting us a large computer screen showing three scans: the initial scan from December; the second from March and the most recent. The news was good. All metastisis have continued to shrink and the main tumor has remained within control.
So to the next chapter where I have three choices.
- I return to chemo next week. Back to the two week regime (without the oxyaliplatin, the drug that has caused the severe neuropathy) and the two remaining drugs at a slightly lower dose, so I can sustain the two weeks regime.
- Three months off and back to chemo as described above.
- Two months off (one more in reality, given I have just had a month) and back to it with a scan and a better understanding of the biology of the cancer. If it remains unchanged over the next month, then that is a good sign that constant chemo may not be necessary at this stage.
At this point I am leaning towards option 3, but more immediately I am relieved that the news is good. I can breathe easy for a bit and enjoy this well time. I will make a final decision on Monday when my acupuncture starts…
With love 🧡
